If I want to move to the usa and live there for good, what visa would I need? I will not require a job in the usa because I will still have a business in my own country, so funds will be coming from my country where my business is, to myself in the usa. With a work visa, do u actually have to work? Could i get a work visa and then live in the usa and eventually get residency without working?

You will need an Immigrant Visa to stay permanently in the USA.This is also referred to as Green Card or Permanent Residency.

But as per what you have stated, you do not need a job in the USA, your funds will be coming from the business in your home country, you do not need a work visa and even though you obtain a work visa, you do not wish to work in the USA. Why would you want to move to the USA permanently? What for? Just curious!

If you want to live and work permanently in the US you most certainly need an immigrant visa (greencard/permanent residency). If you're going to be just traveling to the US for short trips, a long-term tourist/business visa (b1/b2) is probably the best, but that doesn't give you the ability to work in the US.

You may qualify to apply for permanent residency in the EB5 -- Investor category. I don't know too many details, but this is for a business person/investor, who invests in the US and creates a company or opportunity that leads to a certain number of US workers being employed. Google this for more information. There might be some info on other pages in these forums as well.

Best wishes
