Dear Companions,

I am very glad to see that everybody is helping each other here. I need some help from you guys.

I am a legal permanent resident since May, 2000. I believe I can apply for naturalization in Feb, 2004. So,
Q 1. How long it will take to complete the whole process (if everything goes well) (I am in Chicago, IL)?


Last year I bought a house and when I applied for loan, I put myself as a citizen. So,
Q 2. Would it be problem for me to get the citizenship?
Q 3. Do USCIS and FBI can have my financial information also? Do they check applicant’s financial background also?


Please help me out guys. I really appreciate your comment and advise regarding this matter.

1- It depends. It can take any where from 6 months to 3 years or more.
2- You should never lie about your citizenship status. This can cause problems. My suggestion is consult your immigration attorney.
3- If they want to, they can.
 
I do not think Financial Information will affect the decision on your application, however they probably are able to check your credit history. Unless you have done any fraud, you should be OK since even bankruptcy is a legal option.
But, yet again I am not a lawyer and you should discuss this with a lawyer to get the best advise.
