Need Help - Working in India on US Salary

One of my friend has to go back to India for family reasons. He is on H1B and his company is willing to allow him to work from home(India) for about 8 months to one year. But they dont have a branch in india and they too dont know much about such thing. So, what are the H1B and tax or other implications because of this. Is it allowed ?.

physical presence determines taxation. So your friend will be an employee getting non-us salary and so is not obligated to pay US income taxes.
 
Thanks for your reply, but can he come back to US after one year as he has valid H1B ? Is it valid to work for one year in India and then come back to US ?.
 
Why not have him return to India, open and manage an Indian branch and work there as a manager for a year. Then return to the US in L-1A status and obtain a GC through an EB-1 filing as an international manager or executive? If that is not possible, why keep the H-1? Cancel it and remain out of the US for one year and return with 6 years to remain on a new H-1.

Tax issues are complex and I will not even attempt to address them anymore than I would suggest that tax attorney address your immigration issues.
