Anyone,
I am planning on filing an I-130 for my girlfriend. She is residing in India and we will get married in Feb. 2010. My plan is to go to India and do a paper marriage right away and courier all the paper work to the USCIS. Then do a religious marriage in Feb. 2010. Anyone see any problem with this?
Next Question: What documents would I need to send with the I-130? I have gotten conflicting information of whether to send a copy of her passport or not, which will have her maiden name. What documents are required for the initial startup?
3rd Question: What is the time frame for applying for the I-130? I can not make out the time from the updated USCIS website?
4th Question: Should I consider applying for a K3 visa? If so, what paper work is required for that?
5th Last Question: What is the time frame for the K3 Visa?
6th Question (...okay, promise this is the last one): Is it worth hiring a lawyer to handle all this? I don't want to waste time messing around and possibly screw anything up.
Seriously, I wanna have my "ducks in a row" when I go to India. I just became a US Citizen this week and make sure to follow the law.
Thank you!
