Need help with H1 status

Hi all,

My H1 expired in Nov '06 (6 years) and Iam currently working on the Receipt that I received when filed for an extension (for 3 yrs as I have my I-140 approved) in Oct '06 just before it expired. I received an RFE (Request for Evidence) on my application in Feb '07 and the deadline for furnishing all required documentation is end April '07. If due to some reason, my extension application is denied, what would be my status? Would I have to leave the country immediately? Is there an option to appeal? What are my options? Could anybody who happened to go through the same issue please help me with some advices? Thank you very much,

You have option of Motion to reopen your case/appeal. But if the reason for rejection is genuine , you have to leave the country, because you do not have any status from the day you applied your extn . (I 94 expiry)

Thank you for the response, Guru. Would they allow an extension on the RFE deadline if I couldn't furnish all required documents by the current deadline, which is end od April '07? Please advise.. Thanks,
