Need help with B-1 extension

I sponsored my mom for visitor visa and she got a 5 year multiple entry. She is now in the US for last 4 months and I would like to apply for an extension for another six months. Here are some questions regarding this. Anybody know answers?

1. I heard the application for extension is I-539 and could be filed online. However, I do not see the "online" part of this form anywhere in the USCIS site (I see the paper based form though). Where do I find the online filing?

2. What are the necessary documents that need to be collected before applying for the extension

3. Searching the internet I found that some websites suggest that I file I-134 (Affidavit of support) together with my mom's extension application. But sites like www.immihelp.com (http://www.immihelp.com/visas/extend.html) does not talk about this at all. I have not filed this form even when my mom origianlly applied for the visitor visa(I provided only a sponsor letter). Can somebody clarify? Do I need I-134 or not?

4. Do I need to show money on my bank account? If so how much? is there an lower limit?

Any help is appreciated.

check this link for E-filing

Look at the sidebar on right for exact link for I-539

The usual documents that you used for applying for visa will be used along with a letter stating the reason for extension.

When granting visa/extension the ability of the applicant to finance the trip is looked at. They can self sposor or someone can provide support.

In case self sponsor then evidence of funds is needed. I-134 is used by the person sponsoring the applicant.
You dont have to file it if you have documents to self support.

1. I checked the link you provided. There is nothing on the right bar to click on for I-539 Futher this site states that
Effective April 1, 2006, Form I-539 will be temporarily unavailable to E-Filing system users. If you wish to file Form I-539 with USCIS, you must follow instructions for filing in paper. USCIS will make Form I-539 available to E-Filing system users in the near future. Please check back with USCIS for updated information on the availability of E-Filing Form I-539.

Also I am sponsoring my mom (she is not sponsoring herself). So are you saying I need to file I-134. Still confused about this part. Please elaborate.

Thanks anyway for your response.

hope this helps

I am telling from my experience in extending my mom's visa.

I sent copies (no originals) of following documents along with form I539 and fees

Her I94

a copy of ticket showing validity beyond requested extension period

a cover letter indicating the reason (in sufficient time to visit all the places she intended to go) along with reason why she'd go back (like family ties and pervious record of going back in time)

my bank statement showing enough money was available with me to support her through extension

copy of front, back and visa pages from her passport

I think online filing is not available now. We received an approval from Nebraska center in about 5 weeks

Good luck

Need Help

My parents entered USA in Jan2007 and have got visa for just 3 mnths. Their I94 is expiring in Apr2007. We want to extend their visa.
So how sooner can we apply for the extension and what is the best reason that we can give to get visa extension?

Probably how long will it take to receive the response from them?

Please reply
