need help with asylum case

ok guys here is a case. I've applied for MAVNI (Military accessions Vital for National Interest), I did all processing and couldn't get enlisted, cuz DOD put the program on hold. My country found out about my intention to serve US Army. some government officials came to my parents' house, threatened them and ask them to call me back to my country.(I'm from one of the worst political regime countries of central Asia). I'm 100% sure when I go back to my country I'll be persecuted and put in jail right away. My parents called me and said not to come back, never ever.
I searched uscis web page but couldn't find my situation that makes me eligible to apply for asylum.
I came to US in 2007 and never left. I'm a graduate student. Never been out of status.
can I apply for asylum?

If you can document all these events then sure you have a strong asylum case, but I doubt it as to how you will prove that your country's government got hold of your intentions to join US Army and came looking for you and threatened your parents.

I am sorry man. No offense but your case will not stand at all. How would your government find out you wanted to join the MAVNI program? Do they like have spies in DOD? This is a serious matter. If you file a frivolous asylum claim you will forever be barred from gaining any immigration benefit. Just think carefully and decide what you want to do.

the point is that i applied for my passport renewal(it was expired) in March with my government, they denied my passport saying that i had to go back and serve in military. And I told them that i didn't want to go back, and i have intentions to immigrate to US permanently and I was going to join the army over here(that time i was sure that i was gonna join the US Army). In this case I was stupid to tell them my intentions. I still haven't got my passport.
thanks guys for comments and advices

I just found out that DOD will open MAVNI in october, if it's gonna happen I will just enlist in AMRY. If this is not gonna happen then i need to worry about asylum.

Hi there, I have a similar situation to yours, but mine is based more on religious persecution than on account of government persecution, can I ask where in asia are you from, I am from asia too. Maybe we can share details and help each other out, I am going to file for an asylum case too. And I applied for the MAVNI programme too, but I hadnt been in the US for a full two years.

I'm not sure if this is relevent in OP's case but didn't they change the laws a few years ago where you have to apply for asylum within one year of entering the US otherwise your asylum claim will be denied automatically? 2007 is more than one year ago. Although I suppose maybe there is an amendment in the law that says it can be changed to within one year of first become fully and seriously aware of extreme danger to the applicants life.
