I want to know how long do we have to apply for my wife.Actually my I485 is still in process and i just recived a notification for FP and i have been maried for like a year now so just wanted to know how long do i have to apply for her.She is in US right now.

You are too late.. Please File immediatelty.
Your wife application has to be in atleast one day before you got your approval
Anyway if your PD is not current, Take your own time...
If your PD is current , You are very near to your approval..
If yours got approved, She is not eligible to apply for I 485. ofcourse, she can apply
under family based preference scheme..For that She has to wait another couple of years...
Do it fast....You should have done as soon as she is in USA......

Hey I havent recived approval yet i am scheduled to do my FP next week so according to you i schould file before i get an approval right

The lawyer is absolutely wrong. If you want check with Rajeev Khanna...
You have to file your spouse application before your approval and
Your PD must be current to file her application....
Post your notice date, receipt date and PD and category...

Dont delay any more...
If your lawyer is not doing, You can get a 485 application and file it...
That is not a big deal.
 Once your Spouse application is there and you got receipt Number..
You can send additional information needed or that you forgot....

The day your case is approved, you become a permanent resident (for all date calculation purposes). So, you have to appy before that happens. Otherwise, there will be a wait of 3 years or so before your wife is eligible to apply.

if your case got approved and you were married before that, you can apply for follow-to-join. I dont know how many people used this option. please post the details , if anybody used this option!
