Hello friends,

Please help, my friend was unaware of his selection till 30 May, and now he want to fill the forms so we need more information regarding marriage after EDV registration his marriage was on 29th March, 2013 and it held in Country A where the wife lives but he works in Country B And now he came back to his work place. The issue is if he would like to go with her how he should fill the form? And if he decided to go first and let her follow him on later date how should he fill in the form? In both case does he has to fill DS 230 for wife?
Thanks.

To start with, your friend's marriage will not under-go unusual scrutiny at the time of interview, considering the fact that he got married before the May 2013. He needs to fill out the DS 230 form for his wife and send it along with his own set of forms to KCC. He should also include a copy of his marriage certificate to confirm his change of status following the eDV registration.

My suggestion to your friend would be to have his interview at the same time with his wife. He can opt to be interviewed in country B where he works, if his wife is able to join him there at the time of the interview. Or, he could choose to use country A where his wife is currently based (personally, the preferable option) for the interview. He will need to travel back at the time of the interview, of course.

I wouldn't recommend the follow-to-join option whereby he gets interviewed in country B and (following his own successful interview), he requests for his file to be sent back to country A where his wife's interview will now be scheduled. I wouldn't recommend this because of the time sensitive nature of DV Visa lottery, everything will need to be completed within the 2014 fiscal year, his file could be misplaced or 'get lost in transit'. As advanced as the US is, the government bureaucracy can sometimes be unreliable.
