Hi,
I applied for Canada PR in April 2002 and received medicals last week, with no interview. But I also applied for US AOS (I-485) 8 months back. I applied to canada as a safe bet. I got 3 months to send the medicas to CIC. They also requested to send the finger prints again. I don't know why?, I already sent it.

I don't think I will get my US GC in next 10 months. Do you think it is the best idea to send the medicals to CIC and wait for canadian immigration, or is a waste of money? I have no strong feeling to settle in Canada, but applied as a safe side, because I was running out of my 6 years on H1 last year. I think I am safe now in US, because it is already 8 months passed since I applied I-485.

Can some one suggest what should I do now? Should I continue Canadian Immigration process, or should I stop here?

Another question, how long I can keep both GCs (USA & Canada) at the same time?

Thanks

Hi,
I applied for Canada PR in April 2002 and received medicals last week, with no interview. But I also applied for US AOS (I-485) 8 months back. I applied to Canada as a safe bet.
------- What is safe in Canada? Canada has no jobs in IT they have only labor jobs and are also difficult to get, Canada needs truck drivers, pizza delivery boys or factory labor
I got 3 months to send the medicals to CIC. They also requested to send the fingerprints again. I don't know why?, I already sent it.
-------- Many times they ask for second fingerprints
I don't think I will get my US GC in next 10 months.
--- If your case is straight, you may have got EAD and AP and your status is AOS pending, I-485 has backlog in all the service centers, it may take 18 to 20 months to get I-485 approved from the date I-485 was filed
Do you think it is the best idea to send the medicals to CIC and wait for Canadian immigration, or is a waste of money?
---- If you ask me it is total wastage of money, you will spend now on medicals and then going to land then PR Card
I have no strong feeling to settle in Canada, but applied as a safe side, because I was running out of my 6 years on H1 last year.
--- Now you don’t have any problem, you can work on EAD or H1 and if you wish you can also extend H1 for the 7th year, and then for8th year till the time your I-485 is pending (if EAD not used) or work on EAD
I think I am safe now in US, because it is already 8 months passed since I applied I-485.
---- ---You are safe as you may have got I-140 approved and your I-485 is pending more than 180 days, you can also use AC21 if you want to change employer

Can some one suggest what should I do now? Should I continue Canadian Immigration process, or should I stop here?
---- If I am in your situation I will stop here and ask my ROLF fees back {if paid} and will write a letter with the file # that Canada has no jobs and I have changed my intention to Immigrate to Canada, please close my file and refund my ROLF.
Another question, how long I can keep both GCs (USA & Canada) at the same time?

--- Once you get Canada PR you have to land and from landing date you can be out of Canada for 3 years in any 5 years and can maintain PR status of Canada. If you get US GC then you have to fulfill the conditions of US permanent Residence, it is difficult to maintain both the PR at the same time at one point you have to surrender PR status of Canada or US
