Need help in stamping @ Detroit

Please help.
I am planning on to goto Detroit INS office with the courtesy copy to get my passport stamped. Original yet to receive from lawyer.

Anybody got their stamping done in Detroit with courtesy copy only ? or do they ask for original ?

Any help is greately appreciated.
