Need help for getting married ......

Hi folks,

I got my green card last year in May 2004. I am planning to get married this year. What are my best options could you please advise me :

(1) Go to Bombay and get married and apply for K3 visa? How much time these process take? Is there any other way or law for this type of case?

(2) My wife will come to USA on visitor visa and than we will get married here in USA and than I will apply for her Green card? Is it possible to extend the visitor visa after getting married here? Can she stay here once the papers got filed after marriage here?


Please advise me as I am worried about all this stuff.

No, K-3 and K-1 are only available to spouses of US citizens. Your wife will not be able to immigrate for 5-6 years - she will have to wait until your I-130 filed on her behalf is approved or until you become a citizen, whichever comes first.

(2) Is it possible to extend the visitor visa after getting married here?

it is possible for 6 months.

Can she stay here once the papers got filed after marriage here? No, unless you are a citizen, she cannot stay in the US after you file I-130 for her.

it will also be impossible for her to get another non-immigrant visa once she is married to you.
