Need Help First Trip For Gc

Dear folks
I am a DV 2008 winner from europe

this is really questioning my mind .it becomes a stressful
pls help



I would like to give my relative adress When I travel to US to obtain my GC for the first time .
I will buy a return ticket and stay there for a week .Later My relative will receive the GC and bring back to me .

Can this be happen or could I be questioned for this short trip at the PORT of exit .

somebody with the answer will be greatly appriciated .:)

You might get a response in the GC forum. This is a USC forum.

Firstly, you are on the wrong forum.
Secondly, nothing wrong with that. You can complete your GC formalities on your first entry and then leave the US within a week. Your relative can send you your GC or carry it over. Just remember to move to the US within 6 months on a full time basis.
 
As a word of caution, I have seen green cards which were sent back because the mail box did not have the name of the receiver. These types of mail have a return service requested, which means if undelivered they are to go back to the sender.

But the good part is that since the OP is entering the US, he/she will receive an I-551 stamp in thei passport as temporary proof of PR, but I am not sure if this is stilll the case.
