hello everybody
hope u guys are doing good.
I applied for an asylum last year, and went through interview, and INS sent me to immigration court, and the reason was that I didnt show them that I filed my application within a year period. But I sent it one day before the deadline, I have a certified mail receipt and even a receipt that I paid a certain amout at the post office. My court day is this wednesday July 28th, do u guys know if I have any chances? I went to different attorneys in the area I live, and all of them told me that they will extend I mean they will ask for more time to collect the evidence. please give me some advice I do not know what to do? can they take me to jail from court?

thank you very much

and does anybody know a good asylum attorney i n chicago, thanks again

You definitely need a lawyer. I suggest you go to either
Law Office of O'Grady & Associates, P.C. Chicago, IL
Free Phone Consultation. Low Rates. (312) 338-1808
OR
Law Offices of Ronald S. Shapiro, Ltd.
450 Skokie Boulevard
Suite 502
Northbrook, Illinois 60062
Phone: (847) 564-0712
Fax: (847) 564-0871

Just do not panic. You will be ok as long as you have an evidence that you did not have bad intentions.
Good luck
