Came to US on F1...working on H1B...married to USC...applied for LPR on Nov 28, 2006...Received I-765 on Oct 1, 2007...Valid till Oct,1 2008...I-130 & I-485 still pending...want to quit job & go back to Texas.
What will happen if I quit my job now?
What will happen to my status?
Is there any time frame within which I should get a job?
We did not file any affidavit of support and I am making more than the poverty level. But, my wife is not working.

If you start working using your EAD (i-765) you can quit your job without worries, and there is not a time limit for you to get one either...

Your status is "pending AOS" so do not worry about falling out of status or anything.

Well if you've already got your EAD, you are free to move jobs in whatever state you choose.

As far as I-864 goes, your wife will need to submit one as your sponsor, and you'll need to submit one as co-sponsor, assuming your income qualifies. You might want to make sure you have a job at the time you submit the affidavit of support, and also whenever USCIS finally gets around to interviewing you.

Thanks..
How long does it normally take for I-130 & I-485 to get approved....it's been over a year now since we applied and our attorney has no answer for us....we r kind of worried....

Ever heard of an info pass? Make one and go and see the immigration officer to request the status of your application....

Your attorney probably forgot about your existence, he is dealing with people who are in his face demanding answers to their applications... ::cool:

You can move to Texas anytime, but be sure to find out whether your application is moving forward or it is still stuck in Tennesse... waiting for a bus to Texas to join you...:p

After the interview, did the officer tell you he couldn't approve you because of "namecheck pending" or "security clearance" or something like that? if so, that is another boat.

Do not forget to file AR-11 online and call USCIS costumer service to update them with your new address!
