Need guidance on the path to choose

My labor was filed under RIR for a Software Engineer position in Texas on Oct' 2002. It was forwarded to Dallas Regional office in May' 2003. The company received and replied to the 45-day letter from Dallas BEC in January '2005. The case, if approved, will be filed under EB3.

I know see that the queue for RIR is in Oct' 03. But I also know that EB3 dates have retrogressed and there arent' any for this year. Also, I've heard that these dates may retrogress further since more cases are being approved from both PERM and BEC's.

I am looking at other job opportunities and I almost have an offer from a company that plans to start my labor(EB2) in the PERM process right away.
Is it a better idea to wait to get my labor in this company and go through the pain of EB3 or pursue this new career opportunity with PERM EB2 and shorter or no retrogression for EB2? Please advise.

Do not jump, there will be a retrogression in EB2 too shortly. Better file I -140, and your priority date Oct 2002 is too good to wait until Oct 2005.
If your I 140 is approved, you can file your H1 extension in the increment of 3 years (not 1 yr) beyond 6 years until your dates are current to file I 485.

Thanks for you reply. But will EB2 dates retrogress as much as EB3? Also, EB3 dates may retrogress even more, which means that I may end up waiting for a very long time. On the other hand, if I get my labor approved under PERM in EB3, then I have the choice of applying either under EB2 or EB3. Based on this, it looks it'll take me the same time to get GC with the old priority date and EB3 or a new priority date with EB2. And as for the 3 year increments, if EB2 dates retrogress, wont I be eligible for the 3-year extension if the dates are not currnet. BTW, I have 2 more years left on my H1B.

You should understand that your PD Oct 2002, it may be current after Oct 2005.
Yes, EB2 crowd is much more than EB3 nowadays because all the US educated MS students with zero yr exp come under this Q.

If you go for PERM your Periority Date may be OCT 2005. You may have to wait very many years to file I 485 if the date gets retrogressed.
