Need desperate help

I've been in the US for about 16 years or so now, on the belief I was legal until about 5 years ago, i'm trying to get a valid ID in my name, I use to have a drivers license and it has expired about 5 years ago, i'm trying to figure out what I could possibly do to get back on track, so far I have renewed my Passport from my home country I later went to the DMV to get a drivers license but was told I need to get a stamp at a US embassay before I could use it as identifcation ?? or something, can anyone shed some light on what I can do,


This I have
Proof of original birth certificate from Jamaica
Updated Jamaican Passport
Valid US Social Security Number
I also just had a Son, i've payed taxes every year that i've been working.

What are my options ?
 
What documentation did you have that made you think you were legally in the US up until 5 years ago? If you have a green card and you have permanent resident status you should be fine. Just file the i-90 to get a new one.
