Hello,

I have a question regarding the status of my wife who came to the US on an approved K-1 visa after I petitioned her. We married within the 90 day requirement, and applied for an I-485 to change her K-1 visa to a conditional permanent resident status. I checked the status online (www.uscis.gov) of this case, and the message reads:

Current Status: Case received from AAO.

On January 29, 2008, the Administrative Appeals Office returned this case. If your case was remanded or your appeal was sustained, we will notify you of our action within 60 days of the date of the AAO decision.

I would appreciate it very much if someone more well-informed and knowledgeable can explain what this means.

Thank you.

I called the 800 number and their automated service said exactly what I just wrote which was on the uscis website also. 800 number does not give you many options to speak with an actual customer rep. because according to their automated service, any agent can not answer beyond what's already said/mentioned.

It's a very vague or general message / letter. I mean even though it's safe to assume the I-485 process is still going on for almost 4 months now, they've already assigned an alien # to my wife on the notice.

Again, more help and knowledgeable research on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

FYI also, my wife already received her Employment Authorization Card (EAC) by virtue of the combined applications of I-485 and I-765.

FYI also, my wife just got her Soc. Sec. number / card. I know for a fact Soc. Sec. Admin. does not give out Soc. Sec. numbers / cards unless they verify "stuff" from immigration or regarding immigration status.

Thanks very much for your or anybody's help.
