i've been a G.C holder for over 8 years now. i intend to send in my application for citizenship, however over the past year, i had two DUI'S , one b/4 i was 21 and the other a month after 21( both misdemeanors).

im concerned my application may be denied since good moral character is a criteria for citizenship.

can anyone please advice me on what to do, or if the DUI'S will affect my application too negatively.

im currently a student, doing my masters in sociology, and i've given up the undergrad partying lifestyle.

any bit of advice will be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Hi,
Reading your post it seems you are still 21. So you were 13 when you got your GC. Did either of your parents (I am assuming you immigrated with them) naturalise before you turned 18? If they did, you are already a US citizen.

You definitely need an Immigration Lawyer in your case. Please dicuss with a qualified Lawyer BEFORE sending your application.

NOTE: I am not a lawyer. Use at your own risk.

I'd second that advice to find a lawyer. Two recent DUI's, especially with one of them while underage, puts you in a bad situation.
