Need advice on H1B visa, URGENT!

Hi all,

I’m H-1B visa holder; however I recently become unemployed (less than a week). Also, I know for a fact that my previous employer hasn’t withdrawn their sponsorship from my visa. While hunting for another job, I’m currently enrolled at local university. My questions are
am I now out of status even if I’m attending school? If yes, how long is the grace period to leave the country?
Is there anything I could do to stay in the US?

Any comments on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Apply for change of status to F1 if you attend school full time

How do I change my status from H1 to F1? Do I just need to inform the school? will they issue the i-20 right away?

Any other opinions? I'm bumping the post. I'm getting really desperate.
