Need advice - AOS or CP ?

My PERM EB2 just got approved and I will be transferring my old EB3 priority date to my new application (PD Jan. 2003 India).

I am getting ready to file I-140 and wanted to get your opinion on whether CP or I-1485 is going to be a better option?

CP is generally quicker but that hinges on how quickly I can get my I-140 approved. Do you guys think that premium processing for I-140 will come back?

Do you think I need to go CP or I-485 ? Thoughts ???

Thanks

If you want an EAD, you have to file the I-485.

CP requires getting police certificates from every country you have ever lived in (I think since age 16) for over 6 months, whereas with I-485 the USCIS requests background checks from FBI and others.

I would like to add that CP will be faster only if the PD remains current. Moreover, CP option requires your current status to be maintained throughout the process.

I understand but with my PD of Jan 2003 EB2, I am sincerely hoping that my PD will remain current all throughout.

but do you guys think premium processing is going to be reinstated for I-140 petitions?

Thanks

I really don't need an EAD and my concern with I-485 is with so many applications being filed in the last 2 months.....it'll be ages before i get my green card even though my PD may stay current all the while. i feel CP may be quick but dont know?

your thoughts??

It's fine to make guesses now, but don't draw any real conclusions about your PD being current and staying current until you see the October visa bulletin. It needs to be at least a year beyond your PD so it has some room to retrogress without making you become NOT current.

well, it's always a gamble
in your situation i might also think about cp although you never now.
you really dont have the same protections with cp as with aos... but it is true that it could be faster as long as your pd is current...
remember - you can't switch jobs and if denied, it's basically irrevokable.
