I believe my 485 application is the longest ever to be processed. 700 days!!. For some, things do not come easy. Never tried for senator or congressman\'s help. I wrote a letter to INS. I am not sure if that helped but I was approved shortly after. I was RFE-ied for employment letter and earning statements for past 2 years.

Hi 485_oct99_waiter,

I am on a out of station assignment. I will post the letter this weekend. I addressed the letter to Paul Novak
Director, Vermont Service Center. In the From section I included my EAC number and notice date.

The content of the letter was something like this.

Dear Sir,

My application for adjustment of status has been pending for YYY days, XXX number of days more than the maximum processing time. I request you to expedite my application.

I appreciate your help in this matter.

I was RFE-ied 3rd week of July. I sent my reply immediately. Was approved after 2 weeks.

The letter was addressed to
Paul Novak
Director, Vermont Service Center.
