My first name was mispelled on all the I - 797 recipet notices (485/140/131/765). I called the NCSC soon after i recieved the notices, I was told to write a letter to NSC with a copy of orginal application to prove that it was correctly spelled in the application.

I got the EAD card this week, the name is still mispelled. I called NCSC again, this time the agent said she would send a correction notice to the NSC and they will reply back to me in 4 to 6 weeks. The way she spoke it looked like she will get it fixed, i was asked to provide my email, day time phone number and address along with the application information.

Did anyone have similar experience with NCSC, did you ever recieve a letter from the service center notifying the action taken based on the NCSC agent request?

For whatever its worth, I have seen a 6 year old GC case moving within a week after someone from NSC told a friend of mine over the phone that she will place a special request to bump it up in priority.
 
My situation is bit different but similar.. I got my EAD/AP renewed.. but with different A# on both the new documents... We called up NCSC... the CSR transferred to IIO.. IIO asked for all the information then he said.. the old A# has been consolidated into the new one.. I don't know if this will create a problem for me.. my attorney say the original documents should be sent back to NSC alongwith a letter to correct the mistake (??)..He is afraid that if at later point of time BCIS change this view ..... I'm confused.. :confused: what should be done??
 
Newton07, you should record the phone conversation you had with NCSC when they told you that it has just been consolidated into a new one. So that you can cover your own butt later.

Anyways, I would do what my lawyer tells me, since I believe he has more knowledge about immigration law than me, or you, or the NCSC rep, or most people on the forums.

Then again it is my own personal chioce.
 
Name misspelled in I485 Receipt and in EAD

I had similar problem and called the NSC at that time. They asked me to send them a letter requesting for correction with the copy of the Birth Ceritificate for proof of name.

I have sent the same and it has been corrected.
 
Ofcourse, i meant that you should let them know if it is ok if you record the conversation.
And then again it was just a wild brainstorm idea.
 
I got my advance parole renewed early in March and plan to travel outside US in Nov this year. But my last name was misspelled in the travel document. I contacted with my lawyer and she said I am ok if I present the old parole and receipts when re-entering US. But it is still a big risk. I want to go thru the Nebraska Center but the lawyer said they won't put this case to high priority. Is it true? If I sent a letter to NSC for correction, what documents I need to prepare for? And what is the address to send? Or does it help if I visit a local district office? Anyone with the similar experience will be appreciate.

leelee, I have a friend who was in an exact situation as you and it took about 6 months for him to get the corrected AP.

Very strange and unusual, the lawyer won’t tell you your LIN#. After all, the # belongs to you.

You can check your LIN# from the checks which you wrote to pay BCIS. Once the checks are cashed, the LIN# is usually printed on the back. Hope that helps. Regardless, your lawyer should let you know your LIN#. Ask your HR/Immigration Specialist to push for it from the lawyer. That usually helps.
 
The check was paid to my lawyer and that's why i cannot obtain the LIN. She said my case will be slow down if I check my status frequently.

My question is what the risk is if I prensent the wrong AP as well as last year's AP and driver lisence when re-entering US. My lawyer said there's no problem since the A number on it matches all the other documents (EAD, Ap and 485 receipts).

Then these ppl running Kashmir and Greenland must be the cause of this great slowdown at BCIS.... Is it so :D :D
