i am a december filer. baltimore is my center. i know i have ways until comes to this point but was wondering if someone could explain the test taken during the interview. is it a multiple choice or oral examination. didn't think old age would hit me so early in life but i noticed i know all the answers if given as multiple choice but if i have to answer them by myself then not so good. ideas?

Only 100 questions, shouldn't be much of a problem and it's not multiple choice.
Learn one a day and you be done when you need it.
 
wow, really. ok, i shall try, interesting i keep mixing congress, constitution, senators, governers, amandments (s?), house of representatives etc. i was never much into politics and boy does it show now :). thank you though for replying. starting from today, memorization needs to kick in :)
 
What helped me since I only live with kids as of right now I had a friend help me over the phone. If I had some problems with Names for example I thought of something or someone else. Like Patrick Henry. My Husbands Gram's son is Patrick and her Husbands Name was Henry so I connected it that way. I had some sort of weird system. But I got to say it took me 3 weeks to A's the test, lol
 
my husband, american, decided to help me a few days ago. we didn't even get into questions really because he kept going through the answers and saying:
wow, really, i never knew this :)
how encouraging considering an american doesn't know the answers to these questions :). thanks ladybuggy, i need to sit and dedicate time to this.
 
You know what. When I went in for my Interview I dropped my Folder right before giving it to the Security Officer. I said I am sorry I am just very nervous. He ask me if I was nervous because of the Test and I answered yes. He looked me in the eye and ask me do you know who usually doesn't pass the test ? I said hmmmmm no. He said the americans, lol.
 
Plus, unless I am mis-informed, you need to have 75% right.

My problem are the 13 States by name - just because they really don't go easy for my native tongue.

So - that's one I may miss - the rest is a no brainer.

my husband even failed the color of stripes. then he asked: well, where is the blue then?

as of right now i'd fail most of them. the patric henry and then the head of the supreme court :) those two are one in my mind, or at least their name is. the original 13 states, i always forget two.
 
At my test this week they verbally asked the questions from the old test. They asked up to 10 questions, but stopped once I had 6 correct answers. It was not multi-choice - you had to give them the answer. If you study the 100 questions test it should be straightforward. Remember to memorize the "local" answers too - your senators, representative, state governor, state capitol etc.

As for remembering the 13 original states - try remembering the first letters: C, D, G, Mx2 (both start with Ma...), Nx4 (three start with New), P, R, S, V. That helped me.
 
If the test is administered during your interview it will be oral. If you are lucky enough to be offered the test during FP (a Baltimore pilot program special), it will be written multiple choice.

I think it depends on the Officer that is doing the interview. In my case, I was given a sheet with 10 Questions, Answers had to be written out. Once I passed my test, I was given the Oath Letter that same day.

In my BF case, for his test The lady asked him only 7 questions. Then Told him to write a sentence and Shook his hand. He didn't leave with the Oath letter though. But, Luckily he got his Oath Letter in the mail 20 something days after his interview.

Oh, What helps us was: Try Flash Cards. Take it to work, Study it before you sleep, study it on your lunch break. Before you know it....You'll be answering questions in your dreams. haha :D

You will be given up to 10 questions you need to get 6 right, some officers ask you to write the answer, some ask the question and you answer ( like my Case); i was asked the entire 10 questions and i got them all right. i was given a piece of paper with a sentence to read, then you are asked to sign it, and another one to rwrite, and you sign it as well.

almost always they ask basic questions, even if you don't know alot you will be able to get 6 out of 10.
I only used the flash cards since i lost the booklet they gave me, and by the way the 100 questions are actually 96. once you go through the questions few times you will be a pro. i would advice you to write the number of the questiuons you have problem with and go over them alittle more.

I didn;t even know about the flashcards. I wrote them all down on Indexcards and wrote the answer on the back.
In my case I was ask 6 questions, got them all right. Didn't get ask 4 more since I passed already the test basically because you need 6 to pass.
Then I was ask to repeat a sentence which I don't remember what it was. Then I had to write a sentence "I want to become a US Citizen of the United States of America.
Signed my Pictures on the back, signed another sheet of paper and that was it.

The good thing is that there is no need to spend alot of money to study for the test, because, the government provides study guides free. They still do not have the new redesigned test study aids yet. They say they will have them in the early part of this year.
