Any suggestions and help with this would be greatly appreciated as I am struggling to figure out when would I be eligible to apply for naturalization. Below are my trips outside the country up until now and I do not intend to make any more trips abroad until end of next year:
PR since: 13 June 2011
24 July 2011- 29 March 2012 (which is 8 months and 5 days or 249 days in total)
02 October 2012 – 29 March 2013 (5 months and 27 days or 178 days)
05 August 2014 – 04 September 2014 (30 days)
05 October 2015 – 11 November 2015 (37 days).
What concerns me is that 8 months trip and whether I broke my continuity with that. The reason I left was because I had just started classes at an online school here in the United States and since I was not working and I had a huge course load, I figured it would be cheaper for me to temporarily live in my home country during that time and focus on my school (is being enrolled in an online college based in the United States proof that I did not intend to abandon my US residency)?
I read somewhere I can apply for naturalization 90 days before I hit the 5 year requirement but now I am confused whether I should apply or am I supposed to wait until November 2016 to apply? Or does the 4 year +1 day rule apply here?
Otherwise by March of 2016 I would have fulfilled and exceeded my 30 months requirement of being in the United States physically and no trips of longer than 6 months since March 2012.
