Naturalization documents question

My interview is set on Oct. 9 and I'm currently putting all the requirements together. My passport has already expired and I did not bother renewing it because I really have not been out of the country since I received my green card. I was advised to take my passport with me during the interview. Does it matter that it's expired or do I have to go to my embassy and renew it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There really is no need to renew your passport, but you definitely want to take your old one with you.

I think boatbod is right. I wouldn't renew it just for the interview. Take the old passport with you.

The fact that your passport has expired kind of makes the point that you have not been out of the country.
