Just spoke with an IO and she mentioned that cases pending NC for more than 180 days are no longer approvable. She said that theres a April 2nd memo and based on that, they are going to approve cases pending NC > 3 yrs now, and approve by July cases pending NC > 2yrs and by Nov approve cases pending > 1 yr.

Also, she said IOs are no longer going to entertain calls on case status. Maybe they are getting bombarded with such calls.

In the meantime we have to contend with retrogressions and approvals for people who applied later and were lucky to escape the NC issue, leading to visa numbers getting used up.

It seems that this applies to the actions of the FBI, establishing goals for them to clear pending namechecks, rather than the actions of the USCIS which is approving cases with NC pending >180 days.

When they say NC > 3 yrs or 2 yrs or 1 year or 180 days, etc., does it is as of today or the time they mentioned in the memo. For example when they say by June 2008 NC > 2 YRS means on June 2008 or today? Sorry I know the above question is confusing. I am totally confused

Thanks

it means the time NC is pending for as of the cut-off dates in July, Nov etc in 2008

Are you sure about this? What is your source?
