Name Typo - How big of an issue for parent GC?

My mother's name spelling on her passport and my birth certificate does not match. Spelled as 'i' on one 'ee' on the other. Do I need to send an explanation - what should I explain?

Thanks in advance for your advice.
 
you should list both spellings on her applications (use the one in the passport for her official name on her GC application, and the spelling in BC as "other names used".)
