Since it is past due the dates, my attorney made an enquiry and I received a letter saying "Your application needs more time …..Pending security check …….. And it is awaiting for an Officer to review.

My attorney says since it is under security check nothing can be done until 90 days, is it true?

Can some one let me know what does it mean? The reason "security check, is it a genuine one or just a common meesgae? Is the process of security check start only when the dates are current at that center for I-485 in every case? What can be done to expedite the process? How long will it take to hear some thing RFE/Approval/Denial?

Please share your experiences, If you are in a similar type of situation.

that pretty much means your case is in a black hole

security check means your case is still with FBI and they are taking their time
to figure out whether you are related to one their investigation files. Though in all likelihood, you will be cleared eventually, no one knows how much time you have to wait for it.
