Hello - my wife and I are getting ready to apply for our citizenship. My wife is Chinese and her first name has 2 parts. Consequently, her full name is ABC-DEF (first name), XYZ (last name). The green card approval notice and all other documents from the INS list her name correctly as XYZ, ABC-DEF.
However, the physical green card lists her name as XYZ, ABC D (implying that D is her middle initial).
On the N-400 form, they ask for
1 A) Legal Name and
1 B) Name as if exactly appears on the Green Card.
My question is, will they naturalize here with her legal name (as it appears on her foreign passport) or will they naturalize her with the name that appears on her physical green card? If the answer is the name on the green card, then perhaps it makes sense to check the "Name Change" box on the N-400 form and revert it back to XYZ, ABC-DEF.
Any opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
