I just had my interview yesterday.
My passport has my middle & my first name swaps (instead of first middle, its middle first).
I've no problem using the same passport to apply for my greencard, nad getting in and out from the US. Officer said she need to send it back to FBI.

Anything I can do not? How would this delay my application?

Sounds very strange to me. The standard FBI Name Check already includes various permutations of the first, middle and last name as well as minor alterations in spelling. They should not need a new Name Check in a case like this.

I am sure his name check didnt include the permutation that was listed in his application.

That is unlikely. As far as I know, ALL Name Checks include searching for various permutations of the first, middle and last name and this is a part of the standard procedure. The details of the FBI Name Check process are explained in the FBI congressional testimony here:
http://www.fbi.gov/congress/congress03/garrity071003.htm

A key passage there reads:
"...The names are searched in a multitude of combinations, switching the order of first, last, middle names, as well as combinations with just the first and last, first and middle, and so on. "

The name check already would have accounted for the different order. The problem here is that the interviewer doesn't know that.

This could have been prevented by listing the swapped names in the "other names used" section on the N-400 (wouldn't make a difference to what the FBI would have done, as they will switch around the order anyway, but it would have made it more obvious to the IO that a new name check would not be required).

But at this stage you can't do anything about it now except wait.

what can I do now? Any suggestion? Thanks.

You could schedule an INFOPASS appointment at the local USCIS office where you had the interview and try to get more information about your case and what is happening with it now. You could also write to your local member of the U.S. House of Representatives and to the two U.S. Senators for your state and ask them for help as well (all members of congress have staff support people to deal with such requests). It seems likely to me that the IO made a mistake in handling your case, and in this kind of situation external intervention can help.

Given that the interview was only 2 days ago, it is way too soon to pursue such courses of action. The Senator/Congressperson isn't going to do anything to help if the case has not been pending for an unusually long time.

thank you for all the helps.
I will make the Infopass appointment and ask to have someone to take a look at my case again.

If this had been the case of an ordinary delay, then I would agree with you. But if the IO made a mistake an ordered an unnecessary repetition of a name check, an external intervention by a congress member may help to straighten things out (e.g. if some sufficiently high level supervisor looks at the case and notices that a mistake was made).

Yes, but seeking their assistance so quickly is still likely to make them shake their head and wonder why you're so impatient. People whose cases are straightforward with no hiccups still often wait one or two months for a decision. The case should be given a chance to get resolved within the usual time frame before seeking intervention. Yes, it is an unnecessary name check, but most name checks are being done quickly these days.

actually I need this to be done as soon as possible. My wife's H1-B visa is going to expire on April. Need my citizenship to apply for her greencard.

April is 4 months away. Wait it out a couple of months to see if there is any delay. If you seek Congressional help right now when there is no delay yet, they may not be so willing to help if/when it turns into a real delay.

is there someone I can talk to other than the lawyer to speed this up?
I really think the officer made a mistake. I sent a letter to her on Wednesday, and haven't heard anything from her back yet.
