Name Correction on Passport(India)

Hi,
I have a problem in my passport. In my passport I am having only given name and no Last name(family name). My legal certificate name is "ABC XYZ" which is appearing as Given name in my passport.

I had my H1B petition approval with the following
Last Name:ABC XYZ
First Name:FNU which stands for "First Name Unknown".

Currently I am in USA on L1. I want to correct my name on passport, so that can get my H1B corrected to :
First Name: ABC
Last Name: XYZ

Can you pl advise what should I do to get this corrected.

Hi,
I have a problem in my passport. In my passport I am having only given name and no Last name(family name).
------------------many dont have last name or surname on Passport from North India. one can get it from passport office by proving info. when you made your passport what you wrote on passport application is on your passport and if it was mistake of passport office you were supossed to get it corrected.
My legal certificate name is "ABC XYZ" which is appearing as Given name in my passport.
-----------------many from North India have name like RAM KUMAR (surname as SHARMA not on passport and have last name/surname Sharma)

------------------------ your lawyer did a mistake on H1 petition: lawyer was supposed to write First name as: RAM and last name as KUMAR.

Currently I am in USA on L1. I want to correct my name on passport, so that can get my H1B corrected to :
First Name: ABC
Last Name: XYZ

Can you pl advise what should I do to get this corrected.
------------------ You can get it corrected from Indian consulate if you belong to India and read the instruction on nearest Indian consulate site.
