Name check

Does any one know a few things about name check?
1. How many times per month that FBI send the resutls back to USCIS?
2. Does name check start from 2005 or loger time ago? Why it's not a problem before 2005 if it started a longer time ago?
3. Dose USCIS send name check request to FBI when you file I485 or when they get your FP results?
Thanks in advance

I140/485 RD:Oct 2004
I140 AD:Nov 2004

dunno. probably they send individual resuls as they finish the check

it started around 2003, as far as I understand, they send a bunch of files from 2002 in 2003.

Who says that it was not a problem before 2005?
I am: EB1OR, I140&I485 filed concurrently on August, 2003.
Still waiting, pending name check

The name check has ALWAYS been a part of the I-485 process. A change in the procedure occured around 2002/2003. Prior to the change, INS would assume a name check was OK, if no response was received from the FBI and this enabled the INS to process cases very quickly, but as you can imagine some name checks fell through the cracks (sleeper cells to name a few). The change in the procedure makes USCIS wait for a response for every name. This causes a huge delay in the process because the FBI and the USCIS do not have a streamlined way to handle the communication bewteen the 2 agencies with the huge amount of data that is involved. Furthermore, the FBI does not have enough resources to handle the load, and therefor the backlog of pending namechecks keeps growing.

The name check is not triggered by the fingerprints. It is a completely seperate process. The officer can trigger it right away, or later on. In fact you can have multiple name checks done. I had 2 name checks completed. See my sig for the details.

well, I called many times.
getting standard replies. "pending background check", "pending routine security checks" etc.

Do common names take much longer for verification?
Like John, Mohammad etc..
More common your name, does it take more time to adjudicate?

I really dont beleive this theory, because I have seen people with common names get their GC fast.

They search using different combinations of the first, last, middle name and even first and middle names only. Plus date of birth.
If they find name + date of birth match it is considered "ident". They resolve idents quickly. If only name matches it's called hit. You can have more than one hit against your name.
You can have rare last name but if your first and middle names are common this would be a perfect example of shit hitting the fan. If your name requires transliteration just hope for the mercy of the phonetic/transliteration algorithm.
The database they use has whole bunch of crap indexed to some extent.
Not all the referenced material is available in electronic format; if they don't find it in computer they will likely send it to some other division for resolution where it will collect dust for years.
