Name Check

Hello,
The N400 form asks for "Your current legal name". In my case - in some of my documents (like Indian passport) my middle name has been spelled out completely - "Maneklal". In other documents (like Drivers license) my middle name just has my middle initial "M".
What should I put in the N400 form where they ask for current legal name?

I am not interested in name change. I just want to make sure that Name Check doesnot get delayed. Hence I am asking what have other people been putting as far as their Middle Name is concerned in the N400 form?

Thanks for your help

it must match your birth cirtificate

I had a similar situation. The legal name for USCIS purposes and the one that they use is whatever shows on your birth certificate. The birth cert name must also match the passport exactly. If there are any variations, they may make you file for a name change so that everything matches once you are a US citizen.

That is precisely the problem:
Birth Certificate and Passport has middle name spelled out completely. However Green Card just has the middle initial.

So for Naturalization purposes what should I put as the Current Legal Name?
Is it what the passport says (with the full middle name) OR is it what the green card says (which is the middle initial)?

Don't know if going one way or other affects the name check. I definiltey donot want the naturalization process to be delayed because of either name check or any other issues with the name.

Have people faced similar situations? Please advise.

then you put what is your birth cert and psspt

If both your birth certificate and passport match, then that is the name to put in full. Ignore whatever the green card says. My interviewing officer basically told me the same thing as I had a difference between the docs. He went strictly by the birth certificate.
