Name check & VSC

I have been contacting the MD congressman and recently MD Senator to determine the status of my 485 case pending since Dec 5, 2001. My 2nd FP was in Oct 2003. This is what I had so far

Jan 2004: case is in name check with FBI, check back in 30 days.

Feb 2004: case is in background/name check and we cannot do anything about it. Received a letter from INS that it takes an indefinite amount of time.

Mar 2004: It takes an indefinite amount of time and we cannot do anything, waiting on FBI. check in 60 days.

May 17, 2004: Congressman's office is fed up with me and tells me that they have not heard anything new. So I decided to call the Senator.

May 21, 2004: "Name check is pending with FBI since May 7 2004, you should hear back in 60 days".

What May 7th and another 60 days :mad: :mad: :mad: ???? INS is driving me crazy, what were they telling the congressman's office in Jan, Feb, and Mar, lies????
 
I suggest you to make FBI inquiry about the status of your namecheck.

I did call them two times but no reply.

Allow them 2-3 weeks to reply before calling again. I called at May 5th and they replied at May 20th.

You will hear back from them after 2-3 weeks, but speaking from experience these guys are way more professional than the USCIS. They will call back with all info they have on you (regarding name check) and will patiently answer your questions if you have any for them !

DC congresswoman..

Same shite. I called in January, told that it will happen in March. Called in April, I was told June 15th.

I called the FBI and got a call back today. They said that the background check was cleared in December 2002. That is really wiered because my first FP was in March 2001 and the second one was in Octobober 2003. Don't know what the hell is going on???
