Hi Gurus,

Please help regarding a question I have regarding name check. I had my 1st FP done in 11/02 and 2nd FP done in 08/04 for NSC I485. When I faxed FBI to enquire about Name check clearance, I got the following reply?

This is in reference to your facsimile dated September 10, 2004, concerning your immigration status. The FBI completed a record check for you on January 3, 2003, and the results were forwarded to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Washington, DC.

Does USCIS request name check for every FP? For example would USCIS request for 2nd Name Check?

As far as my understanding goes, after reading extensively on the issue and several other posts, name check does not have any validity and it is done only once during the entrie I-485 process.

Hi Sri reddy

what is the fax number for FBI namecheck? How soon you got your responce? I sent 3 inquiries by mail and fax not got a response? just wnt to check right fax number or not???
 
I have sent them fax inquiry two times and haven't heard from then yet. One was in mid July and another in mid september. I didn't know why I hadn't had any response yet, now it looks like they have stopped taking fax inquiries. I am going to try sending them an email and see what happens.

Your full name,
date of birth.
place of birth,
alien number,
address,
email address,
phone and fax number.


MXC they may have replied to your inquiry via email, and since the email address that they send it from looks suspeciouly like a junk email address, you might have deleted it or your spam filer might have blocked it.
 
Sounds a little sketchy!

I am not sure I wan to include all those information in my email. Anybody get lucky with email inquiry? Are those email secured?
 
Here's a template that I used. Actually I got it from this forum and apparently it worked for fax. I don't know about email. It is something that I just learnt today and sent them an email.

at what stage should we send mail, because my online message does not says waiting for name check. how to know that they are waiting for name check ?

Very true. I am running a spam filter (with moderate settings) and the email that I received went into my 'junk' folder. I almost didn't see it, as the email looked like any other spam.
 
FBI Name Check Process

Guys,
My FP is done and the 485 status says

The results of your fingerprint review for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status were received, and processing has resumed on your case.

I want to know the actual process and how do I find out whether my name check has been completed by FBI and sent back to NSC.

Please let me know
