Name Check pending for more than 18 months

I have been stuck in name check process for 18 months. I have not had my interview yet. I am sure that there are others in the same boat.

I would appreciate if they could reply to this message. We can track to see if there is any movement on FBI name check clearances for people who have been waiting for a long time.
 
Same boat

My N-400 (NSC) has been pending for more than 15 months probably because of name check.

Receipt date: 10/25/2006
Finger print completion date: 11/14/2006 returned to USCIS on the same day
Nothing ever since.
I called USCIS customer service once last August, got a letter 3 weeks later saying my background investigation remained open.

Now the only solution is to file WOM after another 8 months.

You could use me as an example. I waited for 18 months before I filed WOM thru an attorney. My case was resolved in 55 days. I was asked to come for the interview at Atlanta DO. Had my interview at 8am and oath at 2pm same day.

Please let me know if you are thinking of filing WOM or would just like to wait.

Atlanta_Brother, I doubt he/she will know what WOM is. Unless you read up the threads on lawsuits, all these things are foreign to you.

irfnor76, Atlanta_Brother will explain you more but basically WOM is a type of lawsuit that you file against USCIS for such a delay. When USCIS gets the lawsuit papers from your lawyers, in many cases they speed up the processing. Worth the attorney expenses !!!

I have done one infopass and I was told I am held in name check process. I have enquired the USCIS customer service several times, but only received one letter from them saying that my name check is pending.

I had also written to First Lady, who forwarded my mail to FBI. FBI responded by saying that they have received the leter and that they still have to complete my name check process. This was about 8 months ago and till date my name check has not cleared.

Is the above information enough to file a WOM? Has there been any success in cases where the applicant's name check was pending and he had not been interviewed by USCIS?

First of all WOM stands for Writ of Mandamus. If it has been 18 months or more since you have filed your N-400, you are ready to file WOM thru a good attorney. If you are in Atlanta, I can definitely help you out. I did mine thru an attorney and look at me now. With God's will & everybody's sincere prayers/wishes I now have my citizenship.

I have written letters to senators, congressman's office, N-400 supervisor, you name it. Nothing helped me out but it sure helped me build my case/file so I was ready to sue (WOM).
