name check or background security check?

What the difference between those two? When you get a reply back from CIS saying your case is pending, does it say: due to name check or background security check result pending?

Back Ground Security Check is the one gets triggered after FP where your biometrics are verified.

Name Check is the one which take long in some cases where all combination of your name is matched with FBI database.

The first paragraph of the first document states that a name check is synonymous to FBI background check, security check. Is that true or are they different?

My online status says my fingerprint results have been received but CIS emailed me and said my background security check has not been received from the FBI? WHat does it mean? Which one are they saying is still pending - fingerprint check? background check? name check? security check? :confused: :confused: :confused:

The response I got for my case from Mr Cruz is "background security check is still pending a result by the FBI". I am under the impression that it is name check. Isn't it. If not I will be a very happy person.

I got exactly the same response.
 
Mine is July 2005. When do they start name check? Do they do that shortly after I-485 is filed? What is your I485 RD?
 
my 485 RD is Aug 2005. I guess most of the July, August cases are still pending the background security checks. I see tantan, db9, pklam in the same boat as us.
 
what I don't understand is what they meant by "background security checks".

I see some people say background security check is triggered by your FP, but my online status says my FP results were received in Nov 05.
 
background security check

I filed my I-485 in August 2004. I sent a message to CSC DIV XII. I got email that my "background security check" is still pending from the FBI. Still waiting.. My case is EB2 Priority date April 2001. Thought I should be hearing from USCIS soon, but I guess not.
 
Upon sending an email to CSC-XII.485@dhs.gov, I got an email saying that

"There is NO visas available for citizens of India with priority date of
04/15/02 and classification of EB-2. Visas are only available up to
priority date 01/01/02. Keep in eye on the visa bulletin board."

Does that mean the security check, name check process is completed and my I485 application is waiting only for the visa number?

My PD: Aprill 2002
I-140 approved
I-485 AD April 2005
Eb2.

"The back ground checks have cleared. When visas become available, your
case will be Processed"

Now I dont know if this means name checks are cleared or not. I specifically asked him for FBI name checks.

Either ways my PD isnt becoming current for the next 3-4 years :rolleyes:
 
I have confirmation that name check and background security check are the same thing.

Saying that your PD isn't current has no relevance to your name check being cleared. Only when your PD becomes current will they bother to tell you whether your namecheck is cleared. It's just another way for them to delay things.

Whoom did you sent the email? I need the emailid. Here is my info.

PD: Sept. 02 and I-140, I-485 RD: 9/29/05. I-140 Approved on 3/23/06. On I-485, it says FP results are received on 10/4/05 and proecssing has resumed.So, I don't know my name check is completed or not. Please let me know whoom to send email and get the answers. Thanks for your help.

I sent the email to the same email ID given on other posts in this forum, viz.,
CSC-XII.485@dhs.gov
My PD (aug 2005) is far off from getting current anytime soon, so I dont know if they just gave me a generic reply to thwart off for the time being.
But since yours is close, you should definitely email and find out if ur namecheck is pending.
After they respond, you will also see an LUD on your 485.
