name check.....how long and procedure

Experts,
the consulate is doing a name check fro my wife. The mebassy did one on her maiden name and are doing one on her new, married name.

my questions
1) how long does the process take?
2) what is the process? (is it done in US/India, what is required etc.)
3) what happens if it comes back positive (bad)...what happens then (this is for my info....just in case)

I do not have personal experience in this matter. Hopefully
someone who has gone through/ going through this will share
their experiences.

1. Probably depends on the case. What they normally indicate
is about 15 days.

2. I am assuming this would take place in US. Nothing is
needed from your side.

3. You would know better on this aspect. As long as you know
that there is nothing negative in the history of the person,
you can be confident that everything would be resolved
smoothly.
