"Name Check" for I-485 filers (2002 filers)

Hi, I-485 filers (Pre-2002):

Have you contacted FBI for your "Name Check"? do we have some 2002 filers who are stuck in their "name check"? OR do we have any 2002 filers whose "name check" was just RECENTLY cleared?
 
I contacted FBI one week ago.

No response yet. Do you know usually how long it takes to get reply from FBI? The lady from FBI told me it would take 2 months.
 
I have contacted FBI three times, the last being end October. The first 2 inquiries resulted in a reply that the name check was still pending, and I am waiting for a reply for the third inquiry.

I've gotten replies in 3 - 4 weeks from the FBI in past.
 
did you call, email, or fax FBI? what is your ND/RD? did she tell you why take FBI two months for just a reply (just a Yes/No choice)?
 
I just email FBI. The lady told me the email address, and also told me it takes two months.

I contacted FBI in early September by fax and got a reply in Mid-Oct. They informed me that the name check process was completed and results forwarded to USCIS in Jan 03 for my wife and Oct 04 for myself.

It did appear to me that my name check process was hanging there at FBI until I made the inquiry, then it was done before they responded to me. I just wish I had made the inquiry earlier!

I speculate that once USCIS sends FBI the names for check, they never bother to follow up if FBI does not send back the results within a reasonable timeframe - and this is probably an important reason why so many cases are stuck and have to go through FP2 and even FP3 - just a vicious cycle. What can you say? It is after all the INS.

By fax all three times. They responded by email the last couple of times.
 
I sent the fax to 202-324-3367. However if I remember it correctly, recently there was a thread here that claimed FBI no longer accepts fax inquiries, but instead prefers e-mail or phone. Please do a search of the forums and see for yourself.
 
I sent a fax to 202-324-3367 in May of 2004 and received an email back after a month stating that a record check was completed a year before and results were sent to USCIS.

RD 12/27/04

ND 12/31/04

1st FP 2/6/03

2nd FP......not received yet.....no idea what the hold up is for

yes, I have read some posts here stated that FBI only accepts email inquiry and no fax or phone contacts. Am I right? Please confirm!

I sent inquiry email asking for the status earlier of last month to this email address, so far no feedback yet. :confused: :confused:
