Name check finally got cleared in 2-1/2 years!

Just got a phone call from my congresman office with this news. My name check has been pending since 3/11/03, and was just cleared on 9/15/05.

I know it takes time for USCIS to get the notice from FBI, really don't know whether USCIS can approve my case within 1-2 weeks, but not likely. :( :(

I heard that FBI has formed a task team, focusing on the 2002/2003 name check requests...

Does anyone know how long you can expect an approval (disregard the retro effect) after the NC completion date?

through congressman, he called and faxed me.

It's completed. See the following:

A review of the FBI's NCP database concerning Mr. XXX revealed that his request was received from the USCIS on March 11, 2003. This submission was processed and finalized on September 15, 2005. Ms. XXX's request was received from the USCIS on March 11, 2003. and was processed and finalized on the same day. In each case, the results were forwarded to the USCIS Headquarters, Washington, D.C.

I trust this information will assist:you in responding to your constituents. In the event that you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the FBI's Office of Congressional Affairs at

Sincerely,
Michael A. Cannon/gmg

usrfdluj,

i got a letter from congerssman that my namecheck was finished on june 23. my I485 was approved on september 3. My observation is that case is usually approved in from 3 weeks to 3 months after namecheck finished.

Thanks!

Thanks dima66a and tireofWaiting!

tireofWaiting, I heard the news "FBI has formed a task team, focusing on the 2002/2003 name check requests" from an unofficial source, from ImmigrationPortal forum "MY Name check experience". Someone called FBI and was told of that.

Looks like I am not going to get approval prior to the retro kicks in.  , but thank you for your info, dima66a.

Good luck to us all

Thanks, VP2003!

I am in IL and I've contacted 2 congressmen (one in my district, one in employer's district) and 2 Senators.

Both congressmen are wiling to help and promptly made inquiries through FBI. Senator O'Bama office also offered help for name check inquiry in response to my letter; Senator Durbin just refuse to do so citing national security concern. C'mon, give me a break, it's either his office just don't want to server its constituents, OR the other 2 congressmen and 1 senator break the law and compromise national security...

So long for support for Dick Durbin.

Hi usrfdluj,
thanks for replying. Hey when i made inquiry to USCIS local office they always mention that my case is pending for CIA/security check. they never clearly mention FBI or name check etc.. I called CIA and they reply they are not performing any check service for USCIS for AOS cases. do you have any idea..that security check means FBI namecheck..? or its completely different animial?
thanks,

No CIA check

VP2003, I am 99% sure that the security check USCIS is talking about is FBI Name check. It is one of the various creative way USCIS responds in terms of FBI NC.

There is a chance that you are undergoing "IBIS" check by USCIS, but that one is not even near as time consuming as FBI NC, and its valid time period was increased from 30 days to 90 days, so that USCIS does not have to do it repeatedly while waiting for you NC.

There used to be a CIA check by USCIS, but since the introduction of FBI NC and USCIS IBIS, they eliminated CIA check (see attached memo), that's why CIA told you that they did not perform any check on you.

Good luck!

Congrats

Congratulations man. Looks like our cases were completed pretty close one to each other.
