May be it will help some one
MY RD is June 4th 2004.
I wrote an email to FBI asking the status for my name check on Jan 19th 2005.
July 16th I got reply from them
"I am responding to your email dated January 19, 2005, concerning the name check status of you and Spouse.
The FBI completed a name check for the both of you on June 16, 2004, and the results were forwarded to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Headquarters, Washington,DC. "

I am wondering how come USCIS is so effieceint that they submit my name check as soon they get my application and FBI is so quick to finish their part in less than 10 days.

Hope fully I get approve after they open in October. I am EB3, PD Oct 2001

Name/System Check

How long does it typically take to clear name/system check? Mine has been pending for almost 11 months now. Immigration would not even approve the renewal of my AP because of a pending name/system check!

NameCheck can take anywhere from 1 day to 3 years or more.

Worst case they send the file to your native country , where it takes a minimum of 2 years.

AP renewal and namecheck have no connection whatsoever.

AP/EAD will continue getting approved , even while the nc is pending, so find out why your ap is not yet renewed.

name check=finger print?

I only received a notice for finger print in Dec, 2003. I did it on the date specified on the notice. Am I supposed to receive another notice for name check? Or is the name check the same as finger print?
EB3: PD: 05/28/2003.
140 Approved.

tianfengz name check is iniated by USCIS when you file for 485. you don't need to do anything for it...

always_in_labor, i filed for EAD and AP in March 2005. EAD was approved 2 months later but not AP! I travel internationally quite often for work. I sent an inquiry to CSC, they responded "case has been selected for detailed review". I translated that as waiting for name check. Is this reasonable?

Then am I supposed to get a name-check done notice or something like that? I have never received anything like that since I filed 485 in Nov, 2003 or finger print Dec 2004.

Nope -- in true USCIS fashion you don't get any notification about name check.

The only way to find out is to email FBI at fbinncp@ic.fbi.gov -- they take about 5 or 6 MONTHS to send a response - duh !

Detailed Review does not mean name check, it measn INS is doing quality check on the processing of your file.

It will not take too much time.

If its name check, you will get the reply that your case has gone for security check.

Hey always_in_labor, thanks for your reply. My AP has been on hold for almost 4 months now (RD 23MAR05). According to USCIS website, they are processing cases submitted in June 2005 (about 2 months after I submitted mine)! Any ideas?
