My I-485 had been stuck in name check for about 15 -16 months. I was planning to file WoM in the next few weeks and had started preparation such as writing to congressman etc. I also wrote to Mrs. Bush in late October and received a letter from the FBI this weekend saying that my name check had been finalized in mid December 2006. The letter mentioned that they received the name check request from USCIS in Sep 2005.

I also received FP2 appointment notices for self and spouse.

From what I have seen on this forum, writing to Mrs. Bush seems to work for some poeple, though not for everyone - it certainly worked for me.

Did you get any letter from the white house to confirm that they actually forwarded your letter to the FBI?
I sent my letter to the first lady late November but still waiting.

No I haven't received anything from the white house yet. However, the FBI letter did mention the fact that my letter to the first lady was forwarded to them.

rduman,
In your letter to the first lady, did you mention the expedite request for both your wife and yourself or just yourself. Thanks.

Just myself. I had found out through an infopass appointment that my wife's name check had already cleared.

Did you mention that your wife's NC had been cleared before you send the letter to the first lady?

You can lookup the address on http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ .

As for the letter format - it is really straightforward. First you provide some background information - that you have an application pending for so long etc etc. Then you say that you have no criminal record (reference your FOIPA results here). Then briefly explain how the delay in process is impacting your life. Then finally request that the first lady help you in resolving the name check. You can attach a copy of your 485 receipt and FOIPA results.
