N400 filed w/ VSC w/ a received date of 4/14/06

as of 6/20/06, no finger print/FP notice. I went down to local INS office and was told that I was scheduled for a FP on 5/17/06... but I never received the FP notice; was told to write to VSC which I did, also called (on 5/17/06) customer service and was told the same... yesterday (7/14/06) I called customer service and was told that I was never scheduled for a FP !!! and I have to wait for 180 days to check back w/ them.

Today I received a letter from VSC saying:

"The processing of your petition/application has been delayed. All petitions/applications received by this Service are required to have routine security checks that are resulting in delays of the adjudication of petitions/applications. We can give no definite indication of when they will be completed. We apologize for the delay."

and to call customer service/InfoPass to inquire more....

does this mean I'm going thru name check ? before having FP taken ?

Please offer any comments/help... if it's name check, should I just wait for 180 days (from received date) before calling ? is there anything I can do in the mean time ?

Thanks!

What I understood is that, Name check goes hand in hand with the FP appointment, i.e when they schedule you for FP they send also the Name check request.

I believe they have enforced their policy of not scheduling any interviews before the name check is completed ( FP results are normally sent back to USCIS within hours. ). The effective date of this policy is April 25, 2006.

Having said that, Please note that this is just a procedure they adoupted , it does not mean that you will be stuck on name check for ever.

Just be patient and keep following up with them once in a while.

foreverafter,

thanks for the reply... it doesn't make sense to me either; receiving this letter before FP notice.

Has anyone heard of name check before FP ? Thanks

chad111, I've been reading the forums for a few years now, and I haven't heard anything like this before. I have read though a few times, what foreverafter was indicating about the CIS considering not scheduling interviews (mind you interviews, not FP appointments) until the namecheck is cleared. Best wishes to you.

I've been waiting for over 2 years for my name check clearance. i had my first fingerprint in aug.04, and ofcorse it expired long time ago.

last time when i was in the citizenship office, i asked for a second fingerprint appointment, just to have it ready when the name is cleared. i was told No, we can't proceed with your case-even a 2nd. finger print-until we recive your N.C clearance.

I can't sue them under 1447b since they descadeuled my interview twice.

I only can file a WOM, but i could'nt fined a WOM example to follow, and there's no records of such succesful cases.

Did you pay a visit to you Congressman's office? Maybe they can do something about your case. In my case, no one at the Miami Naturalization Office is willing to tell me when they submitted my FBI background check. If they did that when I filed the application with the Texas Service Center, they should have obtained the results because that was 10 months ago.

Does anyone know when the FBI Background Check is submitted?

The only thing I know for sure is that my fingerprints were processed and the results were sent back to CIS the day after I was fingerprinted.

foreverafter, aashn, moody22,

THANK YOU much... I'll hang in there and see what happens and share my experience when I get any updates.

Einmalig,

I haven't gone to the congressman office yet... I'm saving that till later when the case gets really delayed.... it's been 3 month since the N400 was filed originally...

Thanks
