Hi,
I got married in the last week and i changed my last name & middle name in accordance with my husband's family. Now i am filing for my Green Card since my husband is a USC. I am wondering which name i should use on the various forms that needs to be filed for my GC application process. Can someone advice/suggest as to which name i should use - my OLD name or NEW name on the forms?
Thanks,

when u r saying,u changed the name ,do u mean through court?

On the forms specifies if somebody change a name should show proof that it was change because of marriage (then the proof is the marriage certificate), if your change was because you decide to not talk anymore to your parents and get in a fight and said that you never was going to carry their name (then the proof is a court paper)...and so on.

It is your call. IF you decide to change your name and put that name change in the forms you can do so, since then your marriage certificate is the proof of why you change your name e.g. from Smith to Clark.

USCIS knows that people change their name so your passport or other documents won't have your married name until you change it accordingly, is not a must. Just use the same name in all the forms.

Good luck,

If your new name is on the marriage certificate, then I would say use the new name on the forms. It will put your new name on the green card. You still have to list your old name on your G-325A (and any other names you may have used in the past).

And make sure you put your maiden name wherever it asks you for 'other names used'. Now that the immigration papers are going to be under your husbands name, I would say you should try to change you name in all your other accounts: bank accounts, license, credit cards, etc. I'm puting together a folder for my interview and I think it's a good thing that now all of my accounts are under my married name.

Thanks!

Wow! Thanks so much for the sincere replies, it is of great great help to me. I feel so proud to be a part of this forum :)
