Name change after citizenship in rare case

Again, the Department of State has a permanent database of it and I've been told this is not a concern by people who actually work for these agencies. I've applied for a passport renewal before and had absolutely no difficulties with it. I understand it's possible you get some rogue agent in there, who may try and make the process extra difficult for you. This can happen with any agency, TSA for example. Cops get the wrong guy type thing. The fact is, I am a citizen and it can be proven via alternative routes.

You guys speak as if what you say should be taken as gospel.

Lots of people don't believe the gospels ...

What are we saying that you don't believe? Are you saying the people in your situation ("citizens by default" without a citizenship certificate) who had problems renewing their passport don't exist or are lying, like the one quoted below?

But when it came time to renew my passport to travel to China, I came up against problems. The US passport issuing agency questioned my citizenship. I sent in a letter, stating how long I had been in the US, that I had a social security number, and pay US taxes, and as I recall I sent my parents' birth certificates in as well. After this, I was re-issued another US passport, and thought that this meant I was officially recognized as a US citizen.

There's also people stockpiling their basements with canned food in case 2012 happens. I understand it's possible. Obviously that person did obtain the renewal passport...you'd like people who have read the sample you posted to think this person was issued a renewal only after years of questioning and waiting. You also left out obvious information regarding his parents applying, but not finishing the Canadian Citizenship process (when they were already US Citizens). This may have caused confusion within itself. He also mentions the possibility of the Vietnam War Situation - and that could mean a lot of things. By the way, it's logical to probably expect some extra scrutiny when visiting somewhere Communist.

And you intentionally left this part out. I really have no idea what your personal stake is in any of that, other than hoping to disprove me.

"As far as the United States is concerned, the passport IS bona fide evidence of US citizenship. Until about 25 years ago, the passport was NOT definitive evidence of citizenship, but was just a travel document. However, under UNITED STATES law, it is such evidence."

It's obvious by this point you and others here have done your absolute best to instill fear in everyone who is in the same situation as I am. Just the fact you have to go to such measures, as using someone traveling to a Communist country in the 1980's.

This is getting really old. I think it's safe to say, this topic has gotten stale.
