Name & Background Check

Dear Friends,

Could anyone please tell me how to findout the status about Name & Background Check clearence?

Please post the phone & fax numbers and also any sample letter to check the status.

Thanks in advance for your help guys.

Number to check FBI Name check is "202-324-2399".
Number to check Finger Print verification section number "304 625 5590" and press # 3 and provide the A# and the Finger Printing Date to the person on the phone and she/he will be able to tell you the status of your FP.
 
FBI Record Check Validity

Experts,
I know the fingerprints expire after 15 months. I've already been through 2. But will the name/record check with the FBI expire after a certain amount of time also? Mine was completed and sent back to the USCIS in January of 2003. My I-485 hasn't been approved. Will they have to conduct another one before approval? Please advise.

As per my understanding Name Check is done only once by FBI based on the Biographical Information and Finger Printing Check gets expired in 15 months and IBIS check done by CIS is valid for 90 days. Hope this helps.
 
Thanks, Needhelp1. That's good news. I received an e-mail from Mr. Dave Hardy this morning stating that my name/record check was completed and sent back to the USCIS in January 2003. If what you stated as your understanding is correct, I am glad this one is out of the way.

Cemol ... it's nice to hear that Agent Hardy is replying via emails. Just one thing to verfiy, did you send a fax with your information or just left a message with your information in the FBI voice mailbox? Also, can the request be sent via email? Thanks!

Agent Hardy responded to my fax inquiry. They say USCIS hasn't requested for the name check. No records exists for me or my wife. We did our first finger print in Feb 2004. How long do they take for requesting name check???

I485 has an LUD when they approved I140 on July 7th 2004. Is appears to be a long wait.......Any ideas to make USCIS wake up to request name check. AP is valid till April 2005 and EAD June 2005. I can't apply for these until end of this year!!!!

I did both. I actually called about 3 times in a 3 month period. I sent a fax on July 28th and I received a response on August 13th.

Hi, Could you guys please tell me when can I inquire about the name check? My FP1 is expiring on 27th August and no idea when they will do the name check/background check. Please shed some light on this. Thanks.

You have a great chance of getting approval. So just pray to God that you don't have to again go for Second FP.

needhelp1, thanks for the support.....I am praying to god for the approval....I am just too tired of this whole GC process......I am sure you all are.....

Please write me about the name and background check, i.e. how can I check that they did it or not.
