N400 Receipt With Exeption????

Hi folks:I have applied for naturlization on Feb27th, 2008 and my priorty date is 29th feb,2008.I have received 1-797c today(03/12/2008).
I have cople of questions:1. it is saying Receipt with exaption,(i forgot to send my pics and copy of my green card) does that meen something.

2.normaly the receipt no contains 13 digits but mine has 12 plus one* sighn.

The letter is saying: The above application has been received by our office and is in process, but has been noted with one or more of the following exception(s):
Missing evidence(S)- your application was missing evidence(S) thatyou will need toprovide at the time of you interview. You will be notified under separate of necessary evidence(S) that will be required at that time, dont submit anything by mail.

you will be notified of the date and place of your interview when you have been scheduling by the local USCIS office. You should expect to be notified within 90 days of this notice.

wot is that ? confused that reqired long or short time.

mine has an "*" too, so don't worry about it. i was told by an IO the receipt numbers that contain * cannot be checked online, meaning the status of the applications. you're lucky they have processed your application even though there is missing evidence. mine was returned and i lost precious two months until i reapplied. need to relax now, and exercise patience

You have nothing to worry about. First your letter explains everything so I would not panic for even a second. Don't send anything by mail. I am sure USCIS will contact you if they need anything or will ask you to bring your GC / pictures on the day of the interview.
Second thing. Your receipt contains 13 digit. Why I say that is because * also counts as a digit. 12 numbers plus this * sign makes it 13.

My receipt number also contains a "*" and I can check my status online. Just include the "*" as though it is a regular character, and you should see something.

Don't get too excited, though. The online status of your case is next to useless - it shows the day they opened your application, not your priority date, and virtually no other information that is useful to you.

I can check the status of my application online and it says the same thing which letter describes.

Don't worry. Mine has it too. I checked my case status online. It says: Case Status Retrieval Failed, etc.

I spoke to IO and he told me that the receipt numbers that contain * cannot be checked online and USCIS will mail me the interview notice soon. He said that interveiw notice will tell me to bring the list of things (including missing evidences) for the interview.

I have done fingerprint appointment last month.
