N400 question: three years/five years information

I look at my N400 form, and it asks specifically about the last five years. But I'm basing my application on three years of permanent residency through marriage.
So do I only have to go back three years? If that's the case, is there somewhere it mentions this exception, so that I can see it?
I'm interested to know what others have done on this matter.

The application asks for 5 years, but IO will look at last 3 if you are applying under 3 year rule.

For the travel information, do not include trips before you became a permanent resident. Even though it asks about 5 years, only include 3 years for a marriage-based case.
