the question in the form is like this:

are you a male who live in the US at any time between your 18 and 26th birthday in any status except as a lawful Nonimmigrant?

My case:
I enter to the US with a (3 Months Visa) in 2002 when I was 24 years old and I got marry with my wife 1 month after my arrival then I applied to adjust my status a couple of day before my visa it was supposed to expire, well everything was good I got my green card 3 years later when I was 27 and I've been living without a problem since then.
But Now
im trying to apply for my citizenship now that im 32 and i never was told that i needed to register with the selective service.

what should be a satisfactory answer in my case since Yes i was in the US between my 18 and 26th Birthday and I was in the process of adjusting my status of becoming a legal resident and I never was informed that i needed to file with the selective service, did i was required to file even though i was in the process and i never got my green-card after i was 27

what should be my answer and explanation if is necessary?

I just find out. something that can be helpful to a lot of people, when you file the form I-485 you are automatically authorizing the INS to sent your information to register on the select service if the application is approved. so a lot of people are registered already and don't even know it.

Also, since you are 32 now , not having filed for selective service does not preclude you from demonstrating GMC for naturalization purposes.

You weren't required to file for selective service since your gc was only approved when you were 27.

Not entirely true. After expiration of the 3-month nonimmigrant status, he was no longer in lawful nonimmigrant status (although otherwise lawfully present), and thus would be required to register.

Yes, you probably were registered automatically as part of the green card process. Check the Selective Service web site, and if your record doesn't show up call them (the web site doesn't have full access to all records) and they can check if you were registered. Although for naturalization it doesn't really matter any more whether you registered or not, because you are over 31.
